Europump position on the restriction of PFAS

Published: 1/02/2023 | PFAS

PFAS materials are used in many of the listed and further applications, mainly as sealings, bearings, cable sheaths, coatings, pump inserts and membranes, due to their extraordinary behaviour. As the PFAS materials, which are up to 100 times more expensive compared to standard materials, are only used in those cases, where no alternative is available, Europump rejects the broad restriction of PFAS, as many vital applications will not work without PFAS materials.

Europump presents its approach to the circular economy

Published: 31/12/2022 | Circular Economy, CEAP

The European Commission has adopted the Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP) which was initially introduced in March 2020. It is one of the main building blocks of the European Green Deal, Europe’s agenda for sustainable growth. The transition to a circular economy is expected to support the efficient use of natural resources and create sustainable growth and jobs. It is considered as a prerequisite to achieve the EU’s climate neutrality target and to halt biodiversity loss.

Europump GHG emissions guide

Published: 15/02/2024 |

This guideline will serve as a tool for pump manufacturers to calculate the Green House Gas (GHG) emissions from pump units in their use phase according to category 11 of the GHG protocol. The guideline presents potential approaches and concepts to consider when e.g. setting Science Based Targets in relation to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) or in general when calculating the GHG emission from pump units in their use phase.

Pump Life Cycle Costs Guide

Pump Life Cycle Costs A Guide to LCC Analysis for Pumping Systems

This guide is the result of collaboration between the Hydraulic Institute, Europump and the US Department of Energy’s Office of Industrial Technologies (OIT).

Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis is a management tool that can help companies minimise waste and maximise energy efficiency for many types of systems, including pumping systems. This guide will assist plant owners/operators in applying the LCC methodology to pumping systems.

Europump guide on System Efficiency

The Europump guide on System Efficiency gives clear and authoritative data on how to optimise energy consumption within rotodynamic pumping systems.

It covers the following topics:

  • Basic Plant layout
  • Pipework configuration and restrictions
  • Liquid velocity in pipework
  • System characteristics and pump selection
  • Pumping systems control

The guide includes a pipe flow energy software CD produced by www.pipeflow.co.uk.

Variable Speed Pumping Guide

Variable Speed Pumping : A Guide to Successful Applications (written by Europump and the Hydraulic Institute)

Applying speed control can save energy, reduce equipment and maintenance costs, increase reliability and optimise pumping system performance by using the most cost-effective variable speed pump for a given application. The key is to design all elements of the pumping system to function optimally together, for the lowest life cycle cost.

This guide brings together everything you need to know to design, specify and operate successful variable speed pumping systems - all in one amazingly comprehensive volume. It shows you, step-by-step, how to take a system approach to incorporating VSDs in your applications. If there’s a viable way for variable speed control to help generate savings on your pumping costs while improving system performance and reliability, this guide will show you how.
