Looking forward
Looking towards the turn on the century and the years beyond, the biggest challenge will presumably be that of coping with the changes taking place in Eastern Europe. Europump can here play an important role within its area of expertise as the many countries come to adopt market economies and become more west-oriented.
Trying to bring the eastern pump industries into harmony with the established standards of Western Europe will probably constitute a key role for Europump.
Another important aspect is to consolidate the ongoing harmonization between members in the EU and those in EFTA, thus ensuring a wide and open European market and thereby negating the myth of "Fortress Europe".
There is no doubt that the creation and establishment of the European Union has strengthened the needs for Pan-European organizations like Europump. It will therefore most likely have a bright future and help the companies of the many member associations to build intercontinental recognition for both their own skills and merits and the pre-eminence of the European Pump Industry on the whole.
